Christmas is ...?
Christmas is coming real soon. In fact, as of this date, it's excatly 20 days away. And I am nearly done with my shopping. *haha...

The main reason why I set up this blog this late is because of what I had heard during during Homily in Church which had set me thinking, "What is Christmas without Christ?" Yes, indeed. We will not be celebrating Christmas if Christ did not come to us 2000 years ago. Even "pagans" or non-believers of the Christian faith are partaking in this celebration. Unfortunately, the true meaning of Christmas is lost in today's world. This celebration has become commercialised. In fact, it is overly-done.

When you travel down Orchard Road or enter any shopping centre in any part of the world, you will not only marvel at the wonderful decorations, which may or may not include Santa's cottage, but also at the equally wonderful Year-end sales held in stores and shops. Go ahead and oogle at that pair of shoes which is going at a huge discount of, most likely, 40% but do take note that along the entire stretch of Orchard Road and in the shopping centres, you will hardly ever find a picture of a child in a manger.

Take a look at that Christmas card that you are sending or have received. Is it not cute and pretty with the picture of a little cuddly bear bearing gifts, or Santa and his reindeers or anything? Ask yourself this: Where is that traditional picture of a couple with a new-born in a manger? Or, where are the three wise men of Orient a-far, bearing gifts of gold, myrrh and frankincense? Where in the whole wide world are those pictures?

Please do not misunderstand me. I am not against shops and businesses making a kill during this Christmas season. You see, Christmas is not only a time for remembering Christ. It is also a "season of giving", just like how Father God gave Christ to us all. So, go out and spend your money silly. But please remember the entire reason for this festive season.

Merry Christmas!
